Homeless comedian: David Kau has failed to settle his R1 million mortgage

Producer and comedian of the ‘Blacks Only Comedy’ – David Kau is about to lose his house for reportedly failing to pay his R1 million loan.

Popular producer of Blacks Only Comedy – David Kau is about to lose his house after reportedly failing to settle more than R1 million of his mortgage.  

The star is allegedly at loggerheads with FirstRand Bank after he missed 11 payments.

A HOMELESS COMEDIAN  

Comedian and actor David Kau – who’s the pioneer of Blacks Only Comedy is about to lose his R1 million house after missing payments with his bank.  

FNB is reportedly demanding that he settle more than R1 million of his mortgage after he allegedly missed payments for his home in Kyalami, Johannesburg.  

FirstRand Bank’s recoveries manager – Ashraf Rocker allegedly applied to the Johannesburg High Court in March.  

The bank is demanding the 43-year-old pay the loan that was concluded in 2006.  

According to a City Press article – Kau and the bank are due for discussions on Friday (8 April) to settle the loan of R1 196 157, including interest.

DAVID KAU: “MY LAWYERS ARE HANDLING IT”  

The comedian David Kau told the publication that his lawyer was handling and that he was experiencing issues with the bank even before the Covid-19 pandemic.  

“I wouldn’t want to jump the gun and speak about it. My lawyers are handling it and I will be able to talk about it when the processes are over.”  

FNB’s recoveries manager – Ashraf Rocker stated:

“During or about May 2021, the first respondent defaulted in terms of the agreement by failing to make payment of the monthly instalments as and when they became due to the applicant.”

“As a result of his continued default, and as of 25 January 2022, he was and remains in arrears in the amount of R275 847.”  

The TV producer was meant to pay R14 477 a month for his loan and hasn’t been paying for 11 months – according to the article.  

The court papers stated that the agreement between Kau and the bank also included termination of the contract should he not fulfill his commitments towards the loan.
