Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins’s last Instagram post shows her happily horse riding before she was accidentally shot on the set of ‘Rust’ by actor Alec Baldwin.

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins tragically lost her life on Thursday 21 October after American actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on set which killed her and left director Joel Souza wounded.
ALEC BALDWIN FIRES PROP GUN KILLING HALYNA HUTCHINS
Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on a film set which killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured the film’s director Joel Souza. The film that was in production is titled Rust.
Halyna was transported to University of New Mexico Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. The freak accident happened on the film set in New Mexico. Tributes have since been pouring in for the beloved cinematographer.
The spokesperson for Baldwin, who is both producing and starring in the film, said that there was an accident involving the misfire of a prop gun with blanks. A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said that the investigation remains open.
“This investigation remains open and active. No charges have been filed in regard to this incident. Witnesses continue to be interviewed by detectives,” said a spokesman for the sheriff’s office Juan Rios.

HALYNA’S LAST INSTAGRAM POST
Halyna shared a photo of the cast and crew on set in New Mexico on Instagram, just two days ago.
In her last Instagram post just two days ago, Halyna went horse riding on her day off from filming.
“One of the perks of shooting a western is you get to ride horses on your day off:),” she captioned the post.
THE TRAGIC IRONY OF ‘RUST’
Rust is a Western film starring Alec, Travis Fimmel and Jensen Ackles. Halyna served as Director of Photography (DOP) and Joel Souza as director. The tragic irony of Rust, is that the film is about an accident murder… just like Halyna’s. In the film, Alec’s character Hardland Rust is the fugitive.
“Infamous Western outlaw Harland Rust (Baldwin) has had a bounty on his head for as long as he can remember. When his estranged 13-year-old grandson Lucas (Noon) is convicted of an accidental murder and sentenced to hang, Rust travels to Kansas to break him out of prison,” read the film’s logline according to Deadline.
“Together, the fugitives must outrun the legendary U.S. Marshal Wood Helm and bounty-hunter Fenton “Preacher” Lang (Fimmel) who are hot on their tail. Deeply buried secrets rise from the ashes and an unexpected familial bond begins to form as the mismatched duo tries to survive the merciless American Frontier,” continued the logline.
