‘She’s just an actress’: Zimbabweans react to Connie Ferguson’s visit

Zimbabweans are lambasting their government for welcoming ‘The Queen’ actress and producer Connie Ferguson into their country.

Zimbabweans took to social media recently to criticise their government for hosting a lavish dinner for businesswoman and The Queen actress Connie Ferguson when the country struggling economically.  

Ferguson who was also announced as the brand ambassador for Nedbank held a conference to inspire women in the country.

CONNIE FERGUSON’S FIRST VISIT TO ZIMBABWE  

Zimbabweans lambasted their government for hosting a glamourous welcome dinner for The Queen actress and creator Connie Ferguson this past week.  

Many were perplexed as to why the Zimbabwean government was spending so much money just to host the actress who’s already rich.   

Some stated that the actress has done nothing for the country and that her visit won’t make a difference to the economy.  

The iconic actress and filmmaker jetted to the country on 7 May, attended her welcome dinner which was hosted in her honour at the Meilkes Hotel, and was treated like royalty.  

Ferguson also meet with different stakeholders at the high-level networking dinner hosted by Zodwa Mkandla, according to iHarare.com  

REACTIONS TO HER VISIT  

The TV producer revealed that it was her first time visiting Zimbabwe in her speech, assured her fans that she’ll return often, and thanked the government for welcoming her.   

She also took to the dance floor and danced with several ministers and entertainers such as comediennes Mai Titi and Madam Boss.  

The legendary actress also visited Emerald Hill Children’s Home as part of her appreciation of philanthropic initiatives and wrapped up her programme with a Zumba Masterclass session.
