EIGHT PEOPLE DEAD AT ASTROWORLD FESTIVAL

“A concert in hell” — Travis Scott held an Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas on Friday 5 November which took a turn for the worst. Panic broke out when the audience began to run towards the front of the stage causing a crowd surge.

Eight people lost their lives and at least 11 people were rushed to hospital in cardiac arrest. In addition, 300 people were treated for injuries. Many killed in the crowd surge were “tragically young.”

“Our hearts are broken. People go to these events looking for a good time, a chance to unwind, to make memories – it’s not the kind of event you go to where you expect to find out about fatalities,” said Local politician Lina Hidalgo, county judge of Harris County

One of the festival-goers is suing Travis Scott and Canadian rapper Drake for “inciting the crowd.” The man, named Kristian Paredes, is demanding $1 million (R14.9 million) from the rappers.

SECURITY GUARD REPORTEDLY INJECTED WITH DRUGS

A security guard was reportedly “injected in (the) neck with opioids”. Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said he was aware of the narrative that a concert-goer was injecting unsuspecting members of the audience with drugs.

“One of the narratives was that some individuals were injecting other people with drugs. We do have a report of a security officer, according to the medical staff, that was out and treated him last night. He was reaching over to restrain or grab a citizen and he felt a prick in his neck,” said Finner in a statement.

Finner went on to say the security guard was revived by Narcan.

SHOCK FOOTAGE FROM THE CONCERT

The Astroworld Festival appears to have been doomed from the start. In a viral video, crowds are seen pushing over security fences to enter the concert earlier in the day.

The chaos built up when Travis Scott arrived on stage with people seen dancing on ambulance vehicles. Others were jumping on the security vehicles which were trying to get to the individuals who lost consciousness

“People were really jumping on the cars of security personnel when they were trying to get to unconscious people in the crowd. This shit is disgusting. Look at these weirdos. #ASTROWORLDFest,” read the tweet.

Another concert-goer called the festival a “concert in hell.”
