Award-winning musician Bulelwa “Zahara” Mkutukana is on the mend from a painful loss she suffered in 2021 when her sister died in an accident.

The Loliwe hitmaker, who has suffered many challenges in the past two years, is also finally going to let her fans into her life and home which they helped her save earlier this year from repossession — Drum Magazine reports.

ZAHARA SAYS SHE IS HEALING AFTER LOSING HER SISTER

Nomonde, who was Zahara’s older sister, sadly lost her life on 5 March 2021 in an accident on the N2 in East London. Nomonde was driving back from work when she was run over by a taxi on the side of the N2 while checking a fault on her vehicle.

“This is the first time I have been able to talk about my sister’s death. I have been in denial about her death for a very long time. For so long,” Zahara says.

“Before, I couldn’t speak about my late sister’s death. I would be cold when her name came up because I was in denial and still am in a way. Even at her funeral, I did not stay long. I went to the doctor, and he gave me something to numb me. I didn’t cry and for the first time I was able to cry for my sister and talk about her,” she continues.

‘I FEEL FENEWED’

Earlier this year, Zahara was dealt a huge blow when her house was broken into and her South African Music Awards (Samas) were stolen.

Shortly after that, she made headlines in May when City Press revealed that the singer was about to lose her Roodeport townhouse as a result of defaulting on her monthly instalments of R17 665, 40.

After asking Mzansi for help, her home was saved in July and the Mgodi singer expressed her gratitude.

“All the R50 notes, R100, and R1000 I got helped me,” she had said at the time.

With all of that behind her, she says she “feels renewed.”

“I am in a good space. I’ve cut a lot of toxic energies and people who are not good for me.

“I am grateful to everyone who prayed for me and who contributed towards me saving my home,” she tells Drum.

GEARING UP FOR A REALITY SHOW

Zahara also revealed that her reality show is on the cards and they start shooting soon.

“We are in the final planning stages of the reality show and we will start shooting next week,” she says.

The singer revealed that she’s finally ready to let people into her life and tell her story her way.

“People think they know me, but they don’t really know me. I want to show people my spiritual side, my family, my close friend, and who I am dating. I know people love Zahara and I want even the mama in the village who I have healed through my music to see how I live and how I think. It will be unscripted and show who I truly am. I am all about inspiring people and healing,” she explains.
