A family in the Free State province says it has reason to believe one of the three bodies that arrested celebrity doctor Nandipha Magudumana allegedly claimed weeks before Facebook rapist and murderer Thabo Bester’s escape could be that of their relative.

DR NANDIPHA ‘CLAIMEDBODIES: DNA TESTS CONDUCTED

According to eNCA on Tuesday, 25 April, the family contacted police in hopes of finding their relative, Godfrey Letsotso.

Letsotso went missing in September 2021. The 66-year-old’s sister dropped him off in a taxi in Kimberely headed to Bloemfontein. When the family asked the taxi driver, he told them that he dropped Letsotso off at the Majakathata taxi rank and that was the last time he was seen alive.

The media outlet reports that police conducted DNA tests and allowed the family to view the bodies on 19 April. DNA test results are yet to be released.

One of the bodies, which was used as the decoy in Bester’s brazen escape on 3 May 2022, has been identified as Katlego Bereng Mpholo.

On Saturday, 22 April, police revealed that Katlego’s identity was confirmed through a DNA test.

An autopsy report revealed that Katlego had died due to blunt force trauma to the head and was already dead before the prison caught fire in Bester’s cell.

His family told eNCA that they would be suing the state. In addition, Batho Mpholo — Katlego’s father — said they still have not been allowed access to his remains.

“We have been receiving calls from high-level legal teams who are willing to help us,” said Katlego’s father.
