‘Grateful Elton admitted the affair’: Jantjies to join wife in Cyprus

Iva Ristic, who is married to troubled Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies, has revealed that her husband admitted to having an affair with Zeenat Simjee — the national rugby team’s dietician.

According to News24, the 32-year-old is set to join his family in their new home in Cyprus where they relocated to following news of the bombshell affair that rocked their lives in September.

IVA SAYS ELTON JANTJIES ADMITTED THE AFFAIR TO HER

Since the news broke weeks ago, Elton Jantjies has been adamant that he did not have an affair with Simjee.

According to an article in Sunday newspaper Rapport in September, Elton Jantjies had spent a ‘romantic’ night with Simjee at a bed and breakfast in the week leading up to the Test against the All Blacks in Mbombela in August.

However, the Boks player said in a statement that Simjee was just “a good friend”.

“The Springboks dietician Zeenat Simjee was never with me at either of the two guesthouses that I stayed at. She is a good friend and nothing more. That her good name is now being dragged through the mud is a shame,” his statement read in part.

Speaking to News24 in a recent interview, Iva Ristic said that she had been suspicious about her husband’s affair for a while.

“I’m grateful that Elton admitted the affair to me.

“I always had my suspicions because there were plenty of times when I would wonder where his money is going. The multiple flights booked for the two of them only and the separate hotels they have been booking for months when on the Boks tour was just one of the many signs that this affair was going on for a while,” Iva said.

MOVING ON

Elton Jantjies and his wife have been together since 2014. The couple, who lived in Japan, have three children together.

Last month, Iva shared on her Instagram that she and their three sons are “starting over” on the other side of the world in Cyprus.

“These past few weeks and months have been a rollercoaster for us. I have had to move my kids out of their previous schools because of the media attention they were constantly receiving. It really has not been an easy ride for all of us, but our main priority right now is our kids,” Iva said.

She also added that the focus now is on their kids and on moving on.

“I am hurt and deeply disappointed in both of them. I understand that the affair has been going on for very long, but right now we just want to do right by the kids and move on.

‘I DON’T THINK I WILL EVER BE ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED WITH ELTON AGAIN’

Iva also told the publication that although Elton Jantjies was set to join them in the next few days in Cyprus, it was not for them to work on their marriage.

“We don’t know what the future will hold for us right now, but only time will tell. We speak every day, and there will always be love between us because I’ve practically known him most of my life.

“This chapter of our lives has been dragging on for too long and I just want it to be done so we can all move on. I don’t think I will ever be romantically involved with Elton again,” she added.
