Twitter users are dragging Canadian rapper Drake over Barcelona’s loss and his big bet on the Spanish team for their match against Real Madrid on Sunday 16 October.

THE RAPPER LOSES R9.5MILLION ON BARCELONA BET

Drake topped the Twitter trends list after Barcelona lost against Real Madrid in Sunday’s (16 October) El Clasico. The rapper also backed Arsenal to emerge victorious from their Premier League clash with Leeds. So, he lost R9.4 million (£533 000).

Tweeps are convinced that Barcelona fell victim to the “Drake curse”. The “Drake Curse” has become a meme in the last few years because of the immediate downfall of athletes and sports teams after having some interaction with the rapper.

The “interaction” may involve the rapper posing for a photo with an athlete or wearing the shirt of a sports team before their upcoming game and the person or team losing soon after.

Barcelona switched the usual Spotify logo on their shirts with Drake’s OVO owl logo for Sunday’s El Clasico. This was after the rapper became the first artist to surpass 50 billion streams on Spotify. Drake posted a photo of himself holding up the shirt, with the OVO logo on Instagram.

TWEEPS: ‘JUST ANOTHER VICTIM OF THE DRAKE CURSE’

Twitter users are convinced that Barcelona is just another victim of the Drake curse. Take a look…

“Barcelona (is) just another victim of the Drake curse fr,” wrote @raptalksk.

“Barcelona, the latest victim of the Drake curse,” wrote @animesh1304.

Others dragged the rapper over his big bet.

“Drake watching ca$833,333.85 leave his account after barcelona losing to real madrid in the el clasico,” wrote @nasawali_phame.

While others don’t believe the rapper lost his own money.

“Drake’s public bets are very likely paid for by the betting company he’s promoting. It’s almost certainly an influencer gig he’s running,” wrote @xyCerebrone.
