South African amapiano producer Kelvin Momo (also known as the pioneer or king of private school amapiano) is smiling from ear to ear after one of the biggest musicians of this generation, Canadian-born rapper Drake, gave him his flowers.

On Wednesday 4 January, the Soweto-born musician — whose real name is Thato Kelvin Ledwaba — shared a screenshot of the DMs (direct messages) the God’s Plan hitmaker sent him complimenting his musical prowess.

DRAKE IS A KELVIN MOMO FAN

In two separate private messages, Drake praised Momo’s talent and told him he listens to his music.

“You my friend…are from another planet. [I] Listen to you like a religious experience,” – Drake said in a private message sent to the musician.

Sharing the screenshot, Kelvin Momo wrote: “Waking up to such, speechless! Jokes aside, getting a direct message from Drake means a lot. I don’t even know what to say, but I am f**ken grateful man.”

Drake’s messages come a month after Momo released his 26-track album titled Amukelani.

DRAKE’S LOVE FOR SOUTH AFRICAN MUSICIANS

Drizzy Drake has proven more than any other international rapper that he is a fan of South African music, specifically house music and amapiano.

Besides his fruitful bromance with fellow Grammy award-winning producer DJ Black Coffee — which gave birth to his 2022 album titled Honestly, Never mind, produced by the South African musican — Drake has also co-signed Uncle Waffles.

In 2021, the Hotline Bling hitmaker posted a video of the amapiano DJ’s performance, followed her on Instagram and posted her on his stories.
