Following the news that Ghanama hitmaker Makhadzi was showered on stage with R10 000 from a fan earlier this week, it appears that DJ Maphorisa thought it was better to give than receive…

In a video posted to Twitter on Thursday 21 October, Maphorisa is seen throwing R10 000 to the audience during one of his sets.

DJ MAPHORISA HAS ‘SERIOUS MONEY’

The Lorch hitmaker, who is rumoured to be dating actress and DJ Thuli Phongolo, also seems to be throwing his money around on shopping sprees.

He spent the last week in Dubai where he forked out R1.5 million on a watch at Cartier. He also went shopping for some luxury fashion items at Balenciaga and Prada.

Taking to Facebook, DJ Maphorisa said he was making “serious money” in Dubai.

“Madumane ke star. First time performing as Madumane and it is in Dubai and I’m getting serious money,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

DJ Maphorisa throwing money around…

DJ Maphorisa was in Dubai to showcase Mzansi’s diversity and culture at the Dubai Expo 2020. The six month long event takes place every five years in different countries. The 2020 Expo was delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the expo was postponed to 1 October – 31 March 2022.

While it is unclear whether the video shared to Twitter is from a Dubai gig or not, the DJ was yet again throwing money around…this time literally.

He allegedly threw R10 000 at the crowd during his set. The crowd is seen going crazy attempting to grab some of those notes!

TWEEPS DOUBT IT WAS ACTUALLY R10K

Taking to the comments section of the tweet, Twitter users were not convinced however that it was actually R10 000.

While others thought it was “irresponsible behaviour”.

IS DJ MAPHORISA’S R10K A COINCIDENCE?

While Tweeps are doubting whether it was actually R10 000 that DJ Maphorisa threw to the crowd, the amount is quite familiar. On Sunday 17 October, a fan tipped Makhadzi R10 000 in cash during her performance in Fourways, Johannesburg.

Makhadzi was humbled by the kind gesture of a fan making it rain cash on stage. However, is this DJ Maphorisa’s way of saying it’s better to give than receive?
