DJ CITI LYTS WAS SHOT 10 TIMES NOT 8

DJ Citi Lyts was gunned down and killed in Soweto in the early hours of 14 February. His funeral was steered by Zola Hashatsi.

Zola clarified that Citi Lyts had been shot 10 times, not eight as previously stated. The DJ’s partner Charmaine spoke about how humble and smart he was.

“His humbleness will sometimes fool you. He was crazy about his dad, and when it comes to his son, he was even worse.  He was loyal and a very trusting friend and I feel like his trust is what led him here today. It hurts, it really hurts, God knows it really hurts,” she said according to Tshisa LIVE.

TRIBUTES AT THE MEMORIAL SERVICE

Family representative Peter Zondo spoke about how devastating it was seeing the DJ covered in blood.

“After seeing him lying there in a lot of blood after we were called, we couldn’t eat, we couldn’t sleep. When we got there we struggled to clean his blood, there was a lot of it. We washed and tried so many times, that shows you how much blood was there,” he said.

Rapper Red Button was also very emotional and said that he had trouble coming to terms with the DJ’s death.

“It really hurts, because as old as I am I never heard Linda say he was ill or at the hospital or what disease he had. Even with Sandile it’s the same thing. Both of them. This thing does not sit well with me. All my friends died in the streets, they didn’t die in the hospital or their home. That pains me,” he said.
