RIP: Soccer fans pay tribute to Pele

Soccer fans are paying tribute to Brazilian soccer legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento aka Pelé, who died on Thursday, 29 December at 82

The soccer legend Pelé, whose real name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, who won three World Cups and is often considered the greatest player ever died at 82 years. It is reported he passed away on Wednesday, 29 December evening at Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo hospital, where he fought colon cancer.

PELE DIES FROM CANCER

The family of the soccer legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento aka Pelé revealed the Brazilian died on Thursday, 29 December. His daughter Kelly Nascimento confirmed his death on social media. He was 82 years old.  

“All that we are is thanks to you,” she wrote. “We love you forever. Rest in peace.”  

According to ABC, the 82-year-old soccer star Pelé had been in and out of the hospital over the past year as he fought colon cancer. According to Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo hospital his cancer had advanced and he was in palliative care in November.

The soccer star was hospitalized in December 2021 shortly after undergoing chemotherapy to treat a reported colon tumor and shared on Instagram that he was recovering.
