Thousands of commuters will be making use of e-hailing services like Bolt, Uber and others this festive season.

If you are one of them, make sure you stay safe by adhering to the following guidelines…

  • Make sure the driver and car match the description. If it does not, do not get in! You can always cancel and request a new trip.
  • Share your trip with friends and family. Many e-hailing apps have a feature where you others can track your journey and if you make it to your destination.
  • Always check the boot before you get in. It should be empty.
  • Before you continue on your trip, make sure that your doors are never locked via central locking. Also make sure there is no child lock on your door.
  • If anything goes wrong, make use of an “SOS” feature on the app, or get out out the vehicle at the next safest spot.
