Inside the settlement agreement: Boity wants R1.2m from Bujy

Media personality Boity Thulo reportedly wants R1.2 million from radio personality Bujy Bikwa in their settlement. 

BOITY WANTS R1.2 MILLION IN HER SETTLEMENT WITH BUJY

City Press reports that Boity Thulo allegedly asked Bujy Bikwa for R1 million as part of their settlement agreement in the assault charge she laid against him. In addition to the R1 million, Boity is allegedly also asking for R200 000 for the medical bills she incurred. 

The media personality and Bujy allegedly got into an altercation at the Courtyard Hotel opposite the Mall of Africa in Midrand, Gauteng at the end of September. The fight was reportedly over a conversation about sangomas and traditional healers. Thereafter, Bujy allegedly threw a glass at Boity’s face which led to her being immediately rushed to the hospital. Take a look at Boity’s “bloody” face after the incident here. 

The pair opened counter cases of assault against each other, according to one of Bujy’s statements. 

“I also opened a counter case of common assault against the culprit for physically attacking me and after being in pain from the injuries I sustained for seven days, being held in police custody, I have received medical attention and have filed my medical records towards my counter case,” he said in a statement that has since been removed from Instagram.

The radio host reportedly also made demands during the settlement agreement. 

“Boity asked for R1 million, which she says is for loss of income due to her injuries. She says she couldn’t work because she had to undergo surgery. Bujy, on the other hand, claims that he also lost income due to spending seven days in prison after his arrest,” said a source to the publication.

BOITY WANTED TO SETTLE OUT OF COURT

The publication reports that the Ba Kae star’s lawyers approached Bujy’s lawyers to settle. 

“Boity’s lawyers approached Bujy’s lawyers the next day when he appeared in court and told them that she wanted to settle out of court. Bujy received the official letters when he was released on bail the following week. He opened a counter-case of assault against Boity,” said the source to the publication. 

Another source close to the pair revealed that they approached a senior prosecutor at the Randburg Magistrates Court to settle out of court. The prosecutor will only receive the dockets for the case this week. 

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said that the case was postponed to 29 November for further investigations.
