Police Minister Bheki Cele has been the trending topic of discussion on Twitter since Friday (31 December) after a video of his “daughter” partying without underwear on went viral.

Bheki Cele got trolled on Twitter on Friday 31 December after Twitter user Musa Khawula shared a video of his “daughter” partying without any underwear on.

The police ministry spokesperson later confirmed that that was not actually Cele’s daughter but this was after Tweeps dragged him on the platform. The tweet has since been deleted.

Thembeka Ngcobo

Cele is married to Thembeka Ngcobo. There is a substantial age difference between the pair with Cele being 69 and Thembeka only 42.

The pair met Thembeka at the inauguration dinner party of former KwaZulu-Natal premier and health minister Zweli Mkhize.

Cele and Thembeka tied the knot in 2010 which means they have been married for more than 12 years now.

Thando Ngcobo

Thembeka is not Cele’s first wife. He was married to Thando Ngcobo but not much is known about their union or why they got divorce. Thembeka and Thando are not the only Ngcobo women Cele was romantically linked to.

According to IOL, he dated continuity presenter Zama Ngcobo. The police minister was also in a long relationship with aspiring model Bongiwe Ngcobo.

Bongiwe later became his fiancée, but she was involved in a near-fatal crash on the N2 near Nandi Drive in Durban in 2008. The pair split in 2009.

There is not much information available on his children except that he reportedly admitted that he does have a daughter named Khumbuza Cele who was confused with the woman in the viral video.

According to Zonk News, Cele had a son with his ex-girlfriend Mantombi Gumede who he allegedly did not pay maintenance for. The publication reports that Gumede — the daughter of the late jazz legend, bass guitarist and composer Sipho Gumede — was fed up with the situation and dropped the boy off at the steps of parliament in Cape Town in 2017.

When the boy arrived at Cele’s office at the time, the parliamentary staff immediately saw the striking resemblance between father and son as he is reportedly the “spitting image” of his father.

“When his personal assistant called Bheki, informing him about his little visitor, he took the phone and spoke to the child. After speaking on the phone with him, he asked the personal assistant  to take care of him until he was free from his work duties,” reported Zonk News.

It is said that Cele has in the meantime reunited with his love child after abandoning him for 14 years and failing to pay child support.
