‘SHE WANTED TO SEE SPONGE’: MAMPINTSHA’S MOTHER DIES

It seems that when it rains, it pours at Mampintsha’s home. The late Kwaito star’s mother died weeks after her son succumbed to a stroke and was laid to rest on 30 December 2022.

At the funeral, Babes Wodumo reconciled with her mother-in-law during her speech, and the two were seen sharing a kiss as they put all their family drama behind them.

Shortly after the funeral, Babes Wodumo was back on stage doing gigs, and Gumede reportedly voiced that she was not happy with how the Gqom queen was mourning her son.

Mampintsha’s sister Pinky Gumede announced her mother had suffered a stroke and was in the hospital. She pleaded with Mampintsha’s fans to assist her with donations as she struggled with her mother’s hospital bills. She shared that ZamaNguni was confused and constantly asked for Mampintsha.

Pinky added that she had not contacted Babes Wodumo or any of the Simelane family members to ask for money because she never wanted to seem like she was harassing them in any way.

HOW BABES WODUMO AND THE SIMELANES TREATED ZAMANGUNI GUMEDE’S IN HER LAST DAYS

Previously reported by The South African, Babes Wodumo’s sister said,

“If she [ZamaNguni] was really sick, Pinky would call us and tell the family. Why has no one phoned us?”

Recently speaking to Daily Sun, Mampintsha’s sister confirmed ZamaNguni (64) died at Wentworth hospital on Sunday.

“She told me she was old and that she was leaving. She asked if everyone was around, and I said yes. She wanted to see Sponge, Mampintsha’s son, and I told her he was not around. I could see the sadness in her eyes, and she did not say anything,” the report quoted Pinky as saying.

“She gave us her blessing, and we spent some time with her. We then left. At about 10h00, I received a call informing me that she was dead,” the grieving daughter added.

Babes Wodumo finally broke her silence concerning the matter with her mother in-laws. The Umngan’Wam hitmaker shared her best memories with ZamaNguni on social media and captioned,

“RIP Gogo Ka Sponge. Ungikhonzele kumyeni wam. [Extend my greetings to my husband.] Lala Kahle [Rest in Peace] Magumede.

Condolences from fans flooded Mampintsha’s Facebook account.
