Rapper August Alsina has found his name topping the Twitter trends list, all whilst minding his own business.

This, after Will Smith “slapped the s*** out of” comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars on Sunday night.

Now tweeps are dragging the muso back into the Smith’s “entanglement” drama, after he confessed in 2020 to having an affair with Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

August Alsina and the Smiths go way back to 2015 when the hitmaker befriended son Jaden.

The now 29 years old rapper would go on to have a physical and emotional affair with Jada, which he revealed in an interview with Angela Yee.

He also alleged that Will Smith had given him “permission” to pursue Jada as the couple were “in an open marriage”.

August said during the interview: “I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation. He gave me his blessing. And I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really, deeply loved and have a ton of love for her.

“I devoted myself to it. I gave my full self to it. So much so that I can die right now, and be ok with knowing that I fully gave myself to somebody…. And some people never get that in this lifetime.”

Fast forward a month and both Will and Jada responded to the rumours on an episode of her Facebook show Red Table Talk.

Speaking candidly to each other, Jada denied having a full-on affair during the couple’s private separation years back.

She told Will: “I got into an entanglement with August Alsina.

“I was in a lot of pain, and I was very broken. In the process of that relationship, I definitely realized that you can’t find happiness outside of yourself.”

Following Will’s slap to Chris Rock, many fans have taken to Twitter to wonder why the actor did not slap August Alsina instead.

August Alsina himself has yet to say anything on the Oscars controversy.
