Prince William’s comments about Russian invasion of Ukraine has upset many people of colour for it’s “racist” undertone.

Included in the online dialogue is SA star Anele Mdoda who lashed out at the royal for claiming that war in Europe is “alien” to see.

The second in line to the British royal throne has faced backlash for his stance, which kicked off a social media storm this week.

ANELE SLAMS PRINCE WILLIAM

Anele reacted to a viral tweet from Independent columnist Nadine White which read: “Prince William said it’s rather normal to see war and bloodshed in Africa and Asia but not Europe, during a visit to the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in London today”.

The reporter then quoted Prince William, who reportedly said: “It’s very alien to see this in Europe. We are all behind you,” he told the volunteers there”.

Anele responded: “I would be fine if we never heard from William again. Like ever. He clearly has not read any books”.

Actress Mampho Brescia replied to Anele’s tweet, posting: “He’s lack of knowledge and understanding of the world is shameful! The sensitivity of a cactus”.

Other followers of the Celebrity Game Night SA host agreed with her comments.

“Clearly forgetting his own family’s history”, posted one tweep.

REPORTER ADMITS ROYAL COMMENTS WERE ‘MISHEARD’

Meanwhile, according to Channel24, a representative for the Press Association revealed that the Duke of Cambridge’s quote was paraphrased in their writeup and “was not heard from their own reporters”.

Royal Richard Palmer, who filed the alleged remark to the UK press agency, issued an apology and confirmed “in the chaos, a remark he [Prince William] made was misheard, starting a social media storm.”

According to PA, Prince William actually is heard saying: “Everyone is horrified by what they are seeing. It’s really horrifying. The news every day, it’s just, it’s almost unfathomable. For our generation, it’s very alien to see this in Europe. We’re all right behind you. We’re thinking about you. We feel so useless.”

The royal did not mention Africa nor Asia in his comments.
