The Braai Show with AKA’s rival Cassper Nyovest as the host will air on SABC 1 later tonight. AKA has taken the opportunity to address the issues that have been surrounding the show.

In a statement released on his social media today, the Fela in Versace hitmaker notes that the fight for ownership of The Braai Show is not over.

In the statement, AKA highlights that when he stepped away from all of his business partnerships after the passing of his fianceé Anele Tembe, he did not foresee that his partnership with MakhuduCom would betray him the most.

The rapper continues to note that his legal team tried to reach an amicable solution, going as far as filing an interdict against MakhuduCom, Cake Media and the national broadcaster.

“However, as soon as the interdict was withdrawn and during the meeting of 25 August 2021, it became clear to my legal representatives that our good-faith was being exploited for tactical purposes by MakhuduCom.”

AKA notes that many artists have let go of legal battles in the past ending up with no ownership to their own work, but he says the fight continues.

“It is for this reason that I continue to fight this injustice to my creative vision and the violation of my trust as it is clear to me that the continued exploitation of the creative industry in this country will see no end.”

“It is for that reason that I intend to continue this fight. The time has come for a new precedent to be set.”

He ended off the statement by saying: “After all is said and done, it’s just business.”
