‘There’s no drama between us’: AKA & Nadia Nakai clear air on relationship

South African rapper Kiernna Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA, and his girlfriend rapper Nadia Nakai have released a joint statement addressing assault allegations and the status of their relationship, via a tweet on 19 April. 

THE DRAMATIC PAST WEEKEND 

AKA and Nadia Nakai started their Easter weekend with a date night in Accra, Ghana. All was going well until AKA allegedly posted a cryptic Instagram Story. The Fela in Versace hitmaker stated that he will never let another woman degrade him again but he then deleted the story. However, Tweeps had already took screenshots. Take a look…

“I will never let another woman degrade me ever again,” he wrote.

Gossip page Maphepha Ndaba posted screenshots of AKA and Nadia Nakai both unfollowing each other on Instagram. However, when The South African tried to verify this, AKA was following Nadia again, but she was not following him on Monday 18 April. 

Nadia is now following AKA on Instagram again. Daily Sun then reported that AKA assaulted the Naaa Mean hitmaker but the pair denied these allegations. AKA and Nadia have announced that they are suing the publication for R800 000.

AKA & NADIA: ‘THERE IS NO DRAMA BETWEEN US’ 

The pair have since released a joint statement saying that they had a fun work trip to Ghana for separate work engagement but – this is now being turned into a “public smear campaign.” 

The couple then cleared the air on their alleged verbal and physical altercations and said there is no drama between them.

“What was a fun and beautiful working trip where we both had separate work engagements is now being turned into a public smear campaign,” read the statement.

“What we took to be light interactions with industry peers have been twisted by outsiders. There was no physical or verbal altercation. We are fine and there’s no drama between us,” the statement continued.

“Just to clear the air there was no physical abuse nor verbal altercation between us. we are fine and there’s no drama between us, we are basking our individual successes from the amazing trip,” the statement added.
