According to The Standard, Carrie reportedly told her friends she felt “incredibly blessed” to be pregnant again in an Instagram post over the weekend.

She also said the brother or sister to Wilfred would arrive at “this Christmas”. The Prime Minister’s wife also opened up about her heartache after suffering a miscarriage at the start of the year.

“At the beginning of the year, I had a miscarriage which left me heartbroken. I feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant again but I’ve also felt like a bag of nerves,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Fertility issues can be really hard for many people, particularly when on platforms like Instagram it can look like everything is only ever going well. I found it a real comfort to hear from people who had also experienced loss so I hope that in some very small way sharing this might help others too.”

A secret ceremony

Boris and Carrie got married earlier this year in a secret ceremony. At the time, Carrie stunned the internet with her bohemian lace wedding dress while saying “I do” to the British Prime Minister. The 33-year-old bride, who hired her £2 870 (R55 973) wedding dress by Greek luxury designer Christos Costarellos for just £45 (R877) from MyWardrobeHQ for the day, told The Daily Mail she was “very, very happy”.

“The Prime Minister and Ms Symonds were married yesterday afternoon in a small ceremony at Westminster Cathedral,” a Downing Street spokesman later confirmed. “The couple will celebrate their wedding with family and friends next summer.”

The 56-year-old Prime Minister has been married twice before. He had four children with his previous wife, lawyer Marina Wheeler, before they split in 2018. The couple only finalised their divorce last November.

He also reportedly has a daughter born as the result of an affair.

When elected in 2019, he became the first prime minister to live at Downing Street as part of an unmarried couple.

Carrie, a former head of communications for the Conservative Party who has not been married before, gave birth to their son just weeks after Boris left intensive care as he recovered from a severe case of coronavirus last year.
