Bonang Matheba has continued her quest of publicly admonishing her former manager Davin Phillips, even going as far as to accuse him of theft and conducting a “heist gone wrong”.

In a series of heated tweets on Thursday 19 May, the media personality accused the man behind agency Celebrity Services Africa (CSA) of trying to “steal” her company; House of BNG, which produces both alcohol and non-alcohol beverages.

THE BEEF BETWEEN BONANG AND DAVIN PHILLIPS

Bonang Matheba and Davin Phillips’s relationship dates back to 2017 when the latter signed the star to the agency, in which he is the executive director.

Unbeknownst to the public, Davin Phillips also registered the company Vino Ventures in 2017 according to CIPC reports, of which went on to acquire the production rights of House of BNG products. According to CSA, they were tasked with representing Bonang’s “entertainment, fashion, entrepreneurship and philanthropy” endeavors.

In 2019, Bonang founded House of BNG with a star-studded launch and positive reception from South African consumers.

Fast forward to 2021 when news of House of BNG ownership came to light.

According to reports, CSA allegedly negotiated directly with Vino Ventures and split the partnership between them cutting Bonang out as a shareholder. To add insult to injury, CSA claimed Bonang was aware that “any intellectual property, trademark, or copyright developed by them remains their property including House of BNG”.

The company claimed that the star was entitled to royalties of BNG sales and requested that she “relinquish control”  of the company as she was in “in breach of multiple contracts”.

On social media, Bonang was criticised for being merely the “face” of the House of BNG, in place of having any ownership rights.

NEW TWEETS ACCUSE CSA OF THEFT

On Thursday, Bonang revisited tweets made earlier this year that she would see Davin Phillips and CSA in court.

The star went on to accuse them of stealing from her and other artists signed to their agency. She also claimed that the House of BNG was facilitated by Sylvester Chauke, her former manager from agency DNA Brand Architects. Bonang also questions why CSA is currently in the process of deregistration.

She tweeted, tagging Davin Phillips:

“One thing I WILL do is stand up for myself! PUBLICLY! I’ve had ENOUGH!! You’ve put me and my family through HELL the last 2 years! And clearly being decent behind closed doors, isn’t the language you understand ANYMORE!  I’m going to FIGHT! Watch me!

“….so, you (a manager) steal from me (talent), but want ME to apologise to you? Please help me understand.”

“…why did your company, @CSAglobal_ delete their pinned tweet? Ya’ll seem ok with ‘injuring MY reputation’ a few months back? You seemed quite SURE!!  You can’t take the heat?!”

“….and now, you’re trying to steal my company but seem to be failing…A heist gone wrong! You’re audacious”

“….15 years of my HARD work! You think you can swoop in and STEAL from me?!! It will be a cold day in HELL”

“…how dare you?! @houseofbng  was facilitated & finalized by @jaybadza47 & @sylvesterchauke! Loooong before you arrived…. But no, you think you can be snakey and attempt a heist!”

In one damning and since-deleted tweet, Bonang also accused Davin of allegedly stealing “$52 000 from iHeart Media which cost me my radio show”

In 2020, Bonang was tipped to host a podcast on Charlamagne tha God’s new Black Effect Podcast Network, in agreement with iHeart Media.

It’s unclear what transpired thereafter.
