BELLA HADID’S STRUGGLE WITH DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY

In an Instagram post from September announcing her role in her beverage company, Kim Euphorics, Bella Hadid opened up about suffering from extreme depression and anxiety for most of her teenage life.

“Since I was 14, I had tried everything to help myself feel better. After years of social drinking at work event after working event, along with suffering from different immune problems as well, my body started to tell me ‘NO’.”

“My social anxiety was something that slowly crept up on me as I grew into my twenties. It got harder for me to go out at all, so I was just hibernating between jobs.”

BELLA HADID SAYS ‘YOU ARE NOT ALONE’

Bella Hadid detailed her struggle with mental health using Willow Smith’s words in an Instagram post on Tuesday 9 November.  The award-winning supermodel shared that Smith’s words made her feel “a little less alone”.

In a video, Smith says: “That feeling of thinking you’re good enough or being insecure about your art- is natural- but at the same time, I feel like it’s taught.”

In her post, Hadid wanted her 47 million Instagram followers to know that if they were struggling with mental health, they should remember that they’re not alone.

“So from me to you, you’re not alone. I love you, I see you and I hear you. Self-help and mental illness/chemical imbalance is not linear and it is almost like a flowing rollercoaster of obstacles…”

“It has its ups and downs and side to sides. But I want you to know, there is always light at the end of the tunnel and the rollercoaster always comes to a complete stop at some point.”

‘BREAKDOWNS AND BURNOUTS’

Speaking on her struggle with breakdowns and burnouts, the award-winning model shared that it took her a long time to understand that working on yourself can lead to being able to learn more about your own pain and find ways to handle it.

“Which is all that you can ask for yourself. Anyways. Not sure why but it feels harder and harder to not share my truth on here. Thank you for seeing me and thank you for listening. I love you.”
