Ayanda T says SA no longer needs ‘struggle heroes’ as leaders

Ayanda Thebethe is the latest South African celebrity to speak out about the socio-economic crisis that has a chokehold over the country. Over the last few weeks, celebrities such as Cassper Nyovest, Linda Mtoba, and Denise Zimba have all discussed the current state of the country. According to Thando, the country needs new leaders and not struggle heroes who aren’t equipped to deal with the challenges of today.

Her post was met with a lot of agreement from social media users who are calling for radical change.

South Africans are outraged about the way the country is being run.

Over the last few weeks, even the wealthiest celebrities have spoken out about the constant load shedding, the many potholes, the ever-rising crime rate, and now the unsolved shootings.

Taking to Twitter, Ayanda Thabethe shared that the problem may lie with the fact that most of our leaders are struggle heroes and not academics with political experience.

“Academic, political, and work experience credentials combined are needed in our leadership now not apartheid struggle heroes,” she wrote while adding:

“No offense, but we really have new and bigger problems now that affect the future of our country.”
