‘Mnike orange overalls’: Mmusi calls for Arthur Mafokate’s arrest

The audacity! Arthur Mafokate has been dragged for tweeting about ‘inspiring’ Mzansi’s youth, despite being linked to a corruption scandal.

Like many South Africans, Mmusi Maimane is having a hard time believing Arthur Mafokate’s response to allegations he unlawfully benefited from the National Lotteries Commission (NLC)

Last week, the 999 Music record label owner attempted to plead his innocence in a sit-down interview aptly called “Set The Record Straight.”

But according to Mmusi and many tweeps, Arthur’s actions made him appear guilty.

Arthur and actors Terry Pheto and Presley Chweneyagae were implicated in the scandal. The high-profile stars have since had their assets frozen by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU).

ARTHUR BLUE TICKS BACKLASH

Following the backlash of his interview – in which tweeps mocked his “bad attempt at acting” – Arthur Mafokate seemingly moved on with his daily life on social media.

Taking to his Twitter account, the kwaito artist and producer casually tweeted about various topics, including his love for football. But one particular tweet had social media users fuming, particularly after it was reported that the SIU had seized a Midrand property belonging to the star.

Sharing a picture of him on his property, Arthur tweeted: “Just to inspire young ones, please note that in 5 years, there will be a food shortage in South Africa. You better prepare now and stop spending too much time on social media. Life is good out there.”

Unsurprisingly, tweeps -including One South Africa Movement leader Mmusi Maimane – scoffed at Arthur’s audacity.

Retweeting a viral pic of Arthur in a prison uniform, Mmusi referenced a popular song by the hitmaker. “Mnike iorange overalls,” he posted in a since-deleted tweet.

Tweeps weren’t impressed either.

@lulushezi: “Look at the harvest you reap when you plant with stolen money. Beautiful”

@Papirazzi_: “I’m shook that you’re still active on SM Yaz, especially after the performance you pulled on us a few days ago.”

@Hlaha8610241: “How to inspire the young one 101.

  • 1. Steal from the poor.
  • 2. Cry crocodile tears when they ask you what really happened.
  • 3. Then buy land with the stolen money to motivate the young ones. I am motivated, wena king of theft.”
