Footballer Luis Lionel Andres Messi led his home country Argentina to victory on Sunday 18 December as the team won the penalty shootout 4-2 to France at the World Cup 2022 held in Qatar.

1. HE IS 35 YEARS OLD 

Lionel Messi was born on 24 June 1987. So, he is 35 years old. 

2. MESSI HAILS FROM ROSARIO 

The professional footballer was born in the city of Rosario in Argentina.

3. HE SCORED SEVEN GOALS AT THE WORLD CUP 2022

The Argentina-born footballer scored a total of seven goals at the World Cup 2022, according to Goal.com. He was just one goal behind France player Kylian Mbappe who took home the golden boot for eight goals. Before the Argentina vs France World Cup final both Messi and Mbappe went in having scored five goals each.

4. MESSI IS MARRIED TO ANTONELA ROCCUZZO

Lionel Messi married his childhood sweetheart Antonela Roccuzzo in 2017. The pair went public with their romance in 2008.
