It seems Argentina has broken the “Drake Curse” as they’ve come out on top against France despite “cursed” Canadian rapper Drake placing a bet on the team.

ARGENTINA BREAKS ‘DRAKE CURSE’ BUT RAPPER LOSES MILLIONS

Rapper Aubrey Drake Graham is notorious for team’s losing after they’ve had some kind of interaction – or being backed by the rapper. This is known as the Drake curse. However, Argentina seems to have broken the Drake curse after coming out victorious despite backing the team for the World Cup final.

Argentina faced off against France for the World Cup final held in Qatar on Sunday 18 December. At 90 minutes the team drew at 2-2. There was extra time and then a penalty shoot out.

Argentina then won 4-2 at the penalty shoot out breaking the “Drake curse”. However the rapper still lost his bet. This was because Argentina may have won the match, but not in 90 minutes.

The Sun reports that the rapper lost $1 million( R17.5 million) on the bet. The rapper posted a photo of the bet slip on Instagram but it seems he has since removed the post. If the Find Your Love hitmaker won, he would have $2.75 million (R48.4 million) in his pocket.

WHAT DID THE ‘DRAKE CURSE’ START?

According to The Mirror, The “Drake Curse” has become a meme in the last few years because of the immediate downfall of athletes and sports teams after having some interaction with the the rapper.

The “interaction” sometimes involves the rapper posing for a photo with an athlete or donning the shirt of a sports team before their upcoming game and the person or team losing soon after.

This first started when Paul Pogba posed for a photo with the rapper in 2019. About four days later, Manchester United were knocked out of the FA Cup by Wolves.
