There are not only negative reviews for Royal AM chairman and footballer Andile Mpisane following his stint on Saturday, 4 February, in the DSTV Diski Challenge against AmaZulu.

While he found himself trending for his weight as well as his tantrum after coach Khabo Zondo substituted him, some football fans were actually impressed with his some of his skill.

ANDILE MPISANE’S WEIGHT A CONCERN

The 21-year-old soccer player, businessman and musician finally got some game-time when the Royal AM reserve side went head-to-head with fellow KZN club AmaZulu FC as the two clubs shared the spoils as the match ended 1-1.

As per the norm, fans trolled Andile for his weight as they called him unfit. Others continued to accuse him of only making it into the starting line-up because the club belongs to his mother, multi-millionaire Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize.

Addressing the naysayers in September last year, Andile’s mother — who is the Royal AM president — told sportscaster Andile Ncube on Metro FM’s Sports Night Amplified that her son trains like the rest of the club’s players.

“There is one thing people don’t know about Andile, as much as he is my son, he goes to training like every player. He trains with the team and Andile is the one who brought me into soccer because of his love for football. I used to cheer for him when he used to play at AmaZulu,” she told Andile Ncube.

FANS IMPRESSED WITH ANDILE MPISANE’ FREEKICK

However, in a video by SuperSport TV showing Andile seemingly calling out the coach for substituting him, some fans noticed that he is quite good at taking freekicks.

In the viral video, Andile is seen taking a freekick just minutes before being substituted and fans were impressed.

“Lmao that was a nice freekick I wasn’t expecting that from him,” @ditebogomailula wrote.

“This CANNOT be real 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The coach should be fired coz the kid is clearly deadly on set pieces,” @papizwane2 said.

While @Tsolomm said: “Unpopular opinion: He’s actually decent and they purposely didn’t add the clips where he did well😭 I still don’t think this whole thing is right though.”

WAS THAT A TANTRUM?

In the same video, the father-of-three was substituted after the 60th minute for his teammate Philani Sithebe.

A few seconds later, Andile is seen exchanging a few words with the coach.

“He seems to be raising a concern and says ‘Why me? Why was I subbed out’. He was not happy that he was subbed out in this match”, a Supersport commentator says in the background.
