According to The Mirror, Diana, the former Princess of Wales, was planning to leave the UK and permanently move to the United States before she died. And she wanted her ex-boyfriend, Dr. Hasnat Khan, to move in with her.

The publication reports that several sources close to the late royal, including her sister-in-law, Sarah Ferguson, have confirmed these reports.

In a 2020 interview with CBS News, Diana’s Butler, Paul Burrell, spoke out about the late princess’ desire to buy a home in Malibu, California.

“I remember she set out in her sitting room the plans of a home in Malibu, California, the former home of Julie Andrews, and she said to me, ‘I’m buying this house and buying this house to give William and Harry a new perspective on life,'” he said.

Dodi Fayed reportedly owned the property Diana wanted to move to. The couple was in a relationship at the time.

According to Burrell, Diana was particularly fond of the idea that the US has no class system or establishment.

In his memoir about his time with the princess, Protecting Diana: A Bodyguard’s Story, Lee Sansum wrote about how Diana was about to tell the paparazzi of her plans to move to America to protect Princes William and Harry.

“Then she told me: ‘I want to go to the US and live there so I can get away from it all. At least in America, they like me and will leave me alone,'” he wrote.

Simone Simmons, Diana’s trusted psychic and friend, told Daily Star the princess was still very much in love with her heart surgeon, ex, at the time of her death.

“She wanted to move to America or South Africa with Hasnat and was already over Dodi when she died – he was just there to try and make Dr. Khan jealous. He was just a playboy, not Diana’s type at all,” she said.

Since being evicted from Frogmore Cottage, the only home Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had in the UK, the family has officially settled in the US.

But, they are not the only royals with dreams of living in the US.

Since King Charles kicked the Duke and Duchess from Frogmore Cottage, their only UK home, OK! Magazine reports that Princess Eugenie and her family have moved into the home.

A source told the publication that the Princess and her husband recently offered a promotion at the US-based firm Discovery Land Company, have sparked rumours that they may also move to the US.

According to the source, the couple plans to split their time between England and California and will stay with the Sussexes in Montecito when in the US.

Princess Eugenie has previously said she wants to raise her children in the UK.
