Fight fire with fire: Cake Media, Makhudu Com respond to AKA

Cake Media and MakhuduCom have responded to AKA’s legal notice about ‘The Braai Show’…by instituting legal proceedings against the rapper.

AKA served the SABC with a legal notice through Tailormade Legal Solutions on 12 August, to halt the airing of The Braai Show with Cassper Nyovest as the host. The show was scheduled to air on 8 September.

In another turn of events, Cake Media and Makhudu Com say they have decided to protect their own business interests.

CAKE MEDIA AND MAKHUDU COM PROTECT THEIR BUSINESS INTERESTS

Cake Media and Makhudu Com claim that AKA will play no role in season two of The Braai Show. This comes after entertainment commentator Phil Mphela shared that AKA still owned a 50% share in the show. 

In a statement sent to IOL today, Cake Media and MakhuduCom say they are left with no choice but to protect their own business interests. 

“We have instituted legal proceedings against Kiernan Forbes (AKA) to desist from causing more harm to our brands and business.” 

The two companies say they are confident in their legal standings and all will be revealed through legal means. 

They lastly mentioned that production for the show with Cassper Nyovest as the host, will continue as planned. 

AKA’S DEMANDS TO CAKE MEDIA AND MAKHUDU COM

In the notice sent by Tailormade Legal Solutions to the SABC, AKA demanded that he receive a production credit, as executive producer on The Braai Show.

The Finessin’ hitmaker also demanded that the national broadcaster give him 50% of all the proceeds of the show. 

The notice to the SABC also highlighted that AKA was unable to continue as the host of the show due to personal reasons.

‘THE BRAAI SHOW WITH CASSPER NYOVEST’

Cassper Nyovest announced that he would be the host of season two of The Braai Show on 9 August. 

The announcement was met with plenty of confusion, with tweeps wondering why AKA wasn’t the host of the show anymore. 

Nyovest shared that he wanted fans to see a different side to him on the show.
