Rapper Cassper Nyovest goes big again with #FillUpRoyalBafokeng concert
On Sunday 15 December, Cassper Nyovest will continue his feat of filling up stadiums around South Africa.

In recent years, the South African rapper, songwriter, entrepreneur and record producer has run a campaign that started with his Fill Up the Dome concert at the Ticket Pro Dome, in Johannesburg, in 2015.
He has since continued to fill up stadiums every year: Orlando Stadium (2016), FNB Stadium (2017) and Moses Mabidha (2018).
This year’s event is extra special as Nyovest will be in his home province of the North West. #FillUpRoyalBafokeng will take place at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, in Phokeng, outside Rustenburg, on Sunday.
Born and raised in Mahikeng, he’s one of the most successful artists in South Africa with hits, such as Gusheshe and Doc Shebeleza, to his name.
Now getting a chance to play on home turf, Nyovest has decided to partner with youth in Rustenburg for the performance.
Uplifting the youth
In an interview with Africa News Agency, Nyovest’s manager Lerato Moiloa said final preparations are well underway.
“We have already conducted interviews and to date are working with 50 youth from various communities around Rustenburg, who, among other operations, will know more about event management and related activities. These youths will also receive stipends for the work which they will have done.”
Free tickets: Time of ‘giving back’ to communities
Earlier in the week, Nyovest’s management team met with Rustenburg mayor Mpho Khunou to engage the municipality on how the concert intends to “give back” to various Rustenburg communities.
About 1 000 free tickets will be given to various youths across all the municipality’s 45 wards, giving them a chance to see the acclaimed performer.
Nyovest a man of many awards
Nyovest boasts various music awards – both locally and internationally.
His first “set” of awards were in 2013 when he won four awards at the second edition of the South Africa Hip-Hop Awards.
Festive entertainment lined up in North West
In addition to this concert at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium, residents and holidaymakers in the North West have a stellar line-up of entertainment to choose from over the festive period.
The Nubian Music Festival is an annual family event that goes beyond music, covering great food and lifestyle experiences, and aims to also showcase the tourism offerings of the North West’s Hartbeespoort Dam. The popular festival has been running successfully since 2017.
The DJ Nation Annual Bash is a state-of-the-art entertainment experience featuring local and international DJs and hip-hop artists. Hosted in Taung to wrap up the year, it has grown from 700 in attendance in 2007 to 17 000 in 2018.
Other funded events, include the Bokone Bophirima Music, Arts and Culture Festival in Maquassi Hills and the Zeerust Beach Festival. There’s also the Tlokwe Jazz Festival on 1 January 2020, which will feature the iconic Jonathan Butler, among others.
