If you’ve ever visited Cape Town’s Table Mountain Cableway or are planning to these holidays – you will know that you’ll need to allocate plenty towards standing in long queues.

The popular tourist site – one of the seven wonders of the world – is frequented by thousands of visitors on a daily basis, and as such, waiting in a queue for hours on end is very common.

But a new development is allowing visitors to skip the queue altogether, and it only costs an additional R300.

TABLE MOUNTAIN CABLEWAY OFFERS ‘FAST TRACK’ OPTION

Cape Town’s Table Mountain Cableway – which recently celebrated its 92nd birthday – is hoping to tackle the large crowds expected to descend on the city these holidays by offering visitors an enticing alternative.

The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) is hoping to reduce queues with their new “fast track” option, which will allow visitors to skip the queues altogether and head straight to the cable car.

The new option – which will also allow TMACC to make up money lost as a result of Covid-19 lockdown regulations – costs R300 extra and grants visitors access to a separate entrance that connects directly to the cableway station.

The separate entrance is located by a newly constructed wooden pathway which curves around another new addition – Vida E Caffè’s viewing deck. On return, “fast track” passengers can skip the queue again by returning to the queue through the Wi-Fi lounge.

The “fast track” option will officially launch on Tuesday 2 November.

PRICEY BUT CONVENIENT

TMACC’s “fast track” option will alleviate not only queues but will aid social distancing.

But coupled with the price of an actual ticket to board the cable way, it will no doubt cost visitors a pretty penny.

According to Business Insider, the fast-track option will cost an additional R300, on top of the normal price for a ticket, which ranges between R320 and R390 return, depending on the time of the day and the holiday season.

Visitors to Table Mountain Visitors can book online or at the ticket office with the “fast track” option for a special price of R600 per round trip in off season and at R800 during peak season.
