Listening to voice notes will soon become even more convenient when WhatsApp rolls out its latest feature!

After making it possible to change the playback speed of voice notes – saving you time in the long run – WhatsApp will soon launch a new feature that will enable users to play voice notes in the background.
As of January 2022, voice notes can only be listened to while the chat from the user is still open.
According to The Indian Express, WhatsApp wants to change this and will reportedly soon allow users to play audio in the background. This will let you play a voice note and exit that particular chat window. Users will then be able to hear the voice note while checking or replying to other chats or group conversations.
While the report was initially confirmed by WABetaInfo, but it is not clear if it will allow you to play voice notes and exit the app entirely, or whether the voice notes will play only as long as you still have WhatsApp open.
9 to 5 mac also reports that WhatsApp also tweaked how the voice note player will look like.
As you can see in the screenshot below, the voice message will appear on the top of the app with a play/pause button, the name of your contact, and a close button to dismiss the message.
WABetainfo notes that since this global voice message player is launching now, some users may not be able to try this function, as WhatsApp usually slowly rolls out new features.
Unfortunately, it’s still not clear when this function will be available to all users on the stable version of the app, although it will probably not take that long.
