It’s just another day when an athlete (or former athlete in this case) is called out for infidelity: This time, it’s former Bafana Bafana player and sports commentator Matthew Booth who is in the dog box with his wife, Sonia.
Sonia took to Instagram to reveal details around Matthew’s alleged affair with Bongani Moller, a woman who has worked with the former footballer and apparently also married. According to Bongani’s Instagram, she is the director of Royal Haskoning, an engineering company and an ambassador for Virgin Active. Both Matthew and Bongani have collaborated on at least one project together, but it isn’t clear if that is how their alleged affair began.

In one of several Instagram posts, Sonia Booth revealed she had acquired the services of a private investigator who then tracked her husband’s every move – and boy did they deliver. From Matthew apparently buying flowers for Bongani and spending the day at her house, to the two adulterers sneaking away for secret getaways – Sonia’s P.I had some damning receipts.
Before exposing the pair, the former model says she met with Bongani’s husband, who gave her his blessing after they met. She said they had noticed ingredients for cheesecake in the fridge, which she assumed was for their son’s birthday. Sonia would later learn that the cheesecake – together with her Tupperware, were meant for Bongani.
Sonia and Matthew share two children together.
There has been an outpouring of support for Sonia, including from the likes of author Jackie Phamotse, in the wake of the scandal. Both Matthew and Bongani are yet to respond to the allegations.
