Queen Elizabeth unveiled her Christmas tree – standing at 6-meters tall – almost the size of an average two-story home in the UK!

The Queen’s Christmas tree

The royal family took to Instagram to show off the tree that is currently standing in St George’s Hall, Windsor Castle – the Queen’s official residence in the UK.

According to Hello Magazine, the tree has been decorated with hundreds of iridescent glass and mirrored ornaments and it stands proudly in St George’s Hall after it was cut down from Windsor Great Park.

A festive display

Visitors to Windsor Castle will be able to enjoy the festive display from now until 3 January. The State Apartments have also been decorated with garlands, trees and lights to bring a touch of seasonal magic to the royal home.

Holyroodhouse in Scotland will also be decorated in due course, with a 4.5-meter tree set to be erected in the Great Gallery on 3 December. There will also be velvet garlands, glistening berries and seasonal foliage on the Great Stair for visitors to admire.

A royal christmas

Before COVID-19, the Queen would spend the festive period at her Sandringham estate in Norfolk. She chose to keep her Christmas decorations up until February to mark the anniversary of her father’s death on 6 February.

It is believed that the Queen will host members of the royal family at Sandringham in Norfolk again this year. This year will mark the first Christmas without her beloved husband Prince Philip, who passed away on 9 April 2021.
