‘Needs a brain transplant’: Adv Teffo sues Malema, Kelly’s lawyer

Economic Freedom Fighters supporters and Kelly Khumalo’s number one fans have weighed in on reports that Advocate Malesela Teffo opened cases against Julius Malema, Kelly Khumalo and her lawyer Magdalene Moonsamy.

According to Sunday World, on Friday 2 September, Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo confirmed that a case of crimen injuria had been opened by Teffo at the Johannesburg Central and Brixton police stations.

The charges against EFF president Julius Malema, come after insulted Teffo on social media, saying that he was undermining the legal fraternity and was playful in court.

Teffo, who is the former defence lawyer of four of the men accused in the murder trial of the late Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa, withdrew from the case in July.

However, before he withdrew, Teffo wrote to the high court demanding that police minister Bheki Cele be fired. He also said that Khumalo should be prosecuted in the murder trial and demanded that State prosecutor advocate George Baloyi be removed from the case.

Khumalo’s lawyer, Moonsamy confirmed that she has been contacted by the police about the case but said she does not have all the details yet.

EFF RESPONDS TO CHARGES

Following reports, the EFF released a statement labelling Adv Teffo as an attention-seeking person who has an uncontrollable desire to be in the news cycle.

“It is an objective fact that Malesela Teffo would  not be a person of interest to the public or the media if it was not for the never-ending case of Senzo Meyiwa. Since he has been removed from that process he is seeking other avenues to remain a topic of discussion.”

In addition, the EFF said Teffo is failing dismally to build a profile as a celebrity and further labelled him a “clownish individual.”

“His conduct as the defence of those accused of the murder of Senzo Meyiwa was shameful and unbecoming. He then went on to withdraw from the case only to attempt to return with a list of unreasonable and irrelevant demands presuming that he is of importance to the case and therefore can make demands.”
