On Saturday 6 August, legendary radio and TV presenter Jeremy Mansfield shocked South Africans with his announcement that his cancer had advanced to stage 4 and is now terminal. This comes after the former Talk 702,  94.7 Highveld Stereo and Hot 91.9fm presenter beat leukaemia 13 years ago.

Following the news, fans and colleagues have sent many heartfelt messages and well wishes.

One unidentified man, however, took things a bit too far on Wednesday 10 August when he pretended to be Mansfield’s brother in an attempt to see him while he is undergoing palliative care.

STALKER FAN PRETENDS TO BE JEREMY MANSFIELD’S BROTHER

After the shock incident, author and former radio presenter Samantha Cowen took to her social media to request that no one pretends to be Mansfield’s family to see him.

“Please don’t go to the hospital randomly and pretend you are Jeremy’s brother and ask to see him. Yes, this happened today. Yes really,” Cowen who used to be Mansfield’s radio co-host, wrote.

On a brighter note, Cowen said that Mansfield was resting and will hopefully have a good birthday weekend. He will be turning 63 on Monday 15 August.

“In other happier news he is resting comfortably and we are hoping for him to have a peaceful and loving birthday weekend,” Cowen added.

RADIO LEGEND HAS STAGE 4 LIVER CANCER

In a heartbreaking post on Saturday, Jeremy Mansfield made the announcement that his liver cancer had advanced to stage 4, adding that he will be undergoing palliative care.

“This dream team (as I now refer to them) will not guide me through how to have as much fun in the time I have left and fulfill as many dreams, big and small, I have on my bucket list.

“A new journey for Kari [his partner Karen Corbett] and the rest of our families starts today,” he explained.

This is after he revealed earlier this year that he was hospitalised for two months as he was not feeling 100%.

At the time, he was told he’s got some form of liver cancer and doctors discovered a growth on his spine which had to be removed in two painful spinal operations.
