Cool apps to download in 2022

Over the past two years, it has been reported that apps like Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Team had an increase in downloads during the pandemic when businesses and schools depended on some sort of virtual communication.

Our personal lives also depended on technology to stay connected with our family members and friends, reports Gildshire Magazines. In light of this, here are a couple of apps that can help you in your everyday life:

Recipes for any palate

The Tasty App has been downloaded more than 10 million times and offers tasty recipes for any palate.

There are over 4 000 recipes available with an innovative step-by-step instruction mode, a “My Recipes” page that serves as your very own mobile cookbook, and a search tool that allows you to filter by any ingredients, cuisine and social occasion you’re in the mood for.

Remember to drink water every day

If you want to stay hydrated this year, it might be a good idea to download an app that measures your water intake.

Just enter your current weight, and the Water Drink Reminder will help you determine how much water your body needs every day. Remember to update the app each time you drink a cup of water. Then the app will remind you when it’s time for another drink. Hydration helper not only tracks what you drink but also reminds you when it’s time for another drink.

A planetarium in your pocket

If you are into astronomy, there are amazing stargazing apps available – sometimes for free. You can explore with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and discover the latest images, videos, mission information, news, feature stories, tweets, NASA TV and featured content with the NASA app.

Star Walk 2 also uses your GPS to find the exact position of celestial bodies — you just have to point your phone at the stars.

The Five Minute Journal helps you to write down your thoughts and feelings each day. In the morning, the app asks you three questions designed to instil gratitude and set a purpose for your day. In the evening, two questions ask you to reflect on the positive things that happened and how you could improve for tomorrow.

Manage stress

Breathing exercises have been documented to decrease the body’s “fight-or-flight” (stress) response, and help with mood stabilization, anger control, and anxiety management. An app called, Breathe2Relax is a portable stress management tool that provides detailed information on the effects of stress on the body and instructions and practices exercises to help users learn the stress management skill called diaphragmatic breathing.

Meanwhile, an app called Headspace helps you practise mindfulness in your everyday life. Learn how to relax, manage stress, and focus your energy to become more centred and well-rested.
