An Ama2000 was in for a treat after bumping into South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. The youngster posted a short TikTok clip of the moment on Saturday 10 September and it has gone viral! In the clip, the Ama2000 calls the president by his first name, leaving many questioning why she didn’t call him by his title…

AMA2000 GOES VIRAL AFTER MEETING PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA

When he’s not making difficult decisions for the country at his desk in the Union Buildings, President Cyril Ramaphosa likes to keep active and healthy with a walk. On 10 September, TikTok user @palesadubee ran into Ramaphosa and could not contain her composure! 

“Say how are you Memory,” said the Ama2000 in the video. 

“Hi Memory I hope you’re doing well,” responded the president. 

The Ama2000 screamed in disbelief as the president said a few words and quickly posted the video to TikTok. It has since been viewed more than 2.6 million times on the video-sharing app. 

“I met the president in the morning,” she captioned the video.

‘PEOPLE DON’T RESPECT CYRIL’

Reacting to the viral video of the Ama2000 with President Cyril Ramaphosa, many TikTok users were shocked that she called him by his name. 

“Not you calling him by his name,” wrote one tweep. 

“By his raw name?! Ama 2K are menaces,” wrote Aviwe Jodwana. 

“She said Cyril nkari they are friends,” wrote Neo Langa. 

“First name basis. Y’all are besties now,” wrote Bonolo Phakisa.

RAMAPHOSA’S MORNING WALKS 

Speaking to TimesLive in March 2021, the president’s former acting spokesperson, Tyrone Seale, said Ramaphosa believed all South Africans should adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. 

“The president does this himself by walking briskly as often as he can, time and location permitting,” said Seale.
