In the latest Cover to Cover online book show which will be aired on Exclusive Books’ YouTube channel tonight, seasoned journalist Eusebius Mckaiser interviews Dr Wamuwi Mbao, editor of Years of Fire and Ash which is a poetry  anthology exploring decolonisation.

Jacques Rousseau, expert in critical thinking from UCT,  will also review Helen Zille’s latest book, #StayWoke: Go Broke

Why poetry also ‘needs decolonisation’

Years of Fire and Ash: South African Poems of Decolonisation is a stunning collection of  poetry with a deeply reflective introduction by editor, Wamuwi Mbao,” Mckaiser said.

“In this episode, we  speak about why poetry also needs decolonisation and we give readers a taste of some of the poetry in this anthology. Also in this episode is a review of Helen’s Zille’s latest book  #Stay Woke: Go Broke by UCT academic Jacques Rousseau”.

“Poetry has always been a niche, but vital section for Exclusive Books — appealing to audiences in a  totally different way to traditional narratives. Poetry also allows the readers to dip in and out of a  book and for reflecting powerful thoughts in bite size chunks,” said Exclusive books general manager Batya Bricker.

South African publishers Pan MacMillan, NB, Jacana and Jonathan Ball Publishers co-sponsored the previous shows and continue to support Cover to Cover. The long-term intention of Cover to Cover is to be highly inclusive, drawing in indie publishers, book clubs and podcasters.

Podcasts of the show are also available.
