Black Coffee has surpassed local celebrity status. The man has, for as long as we can remember, been rubbing shoulders with the world’s A-list entertainers and this time around, the 6 god himself — Aubrey “Drake” Graham — paid the South African veteran DJ a visit on his stop at Rebel, in Toronto.

Black Coffee has the schedule of a global superstar. If the DJ is not in South Africa, being a great dad to his children, he is either blazing the circuit in Europe or in the United States, feeding the newly-addicted Deep House fiends with some of the freshest sounds to come out of Africa.

The DJ’s international travel adventures are well-documented in his social media. We learned from his Instagram feed that this past weekend, he was killing it at Rebel, a premium night club in Toronto, Canada.

Fans react to Drake showing Coffee love in Toronto

The DJ’s headlining event was attended by Drake, who took the time out of his busy schedule to show his South African mate support from behind the decks.

Of course, the picture of the pair that landed on social media caused a frenzy. Fans and colleagues of Black Coffee recognised this as a statement on his position in the continent’s entertainment standing.

A new album on the way?

By all accounts, it may be that fans are in it for yet another surprise from Black Coffee. The DJ revealed, in a video that was captured only moments after his set at the Ibiza closing party, that his new album could land on digital streaming platforms no later than January 2020.

The album is expected to have international features such as Usher, a good mate of his, and Kelly Rowland, who was pictured with him in the studio recently.

There isn’t much else available on the album. Unless, of course, the appearance of Drake at his set is a teaser of a collaboration that’s on the way.
