The Zeitz MOCAA or Museum of Contemporary Art Africa is the largest showcase of African art on the continent, but before that, it was a grain silo.

The museum opened at Cape Town’s V&A waterfront in September and has been a hit with Capetonians and tourists alike. The nine-storey high space has been through a transformation and a half, thankfully, Curbed has made a brilliant video to tell us all about it.

The former grain silo was redeveloped by renowned British industrial designer Thomas Hetherwick. Seven levels, 6 000 square metres of exhibition space and a restaurant area together with a Sculpture garden.

“The impressive museum is one of the most exciting developments to happen to the Mother City in decades. We have no doubt it will provide cultural stimulation to art appreciators young and old, serving as yet another wonderful Cape Town attraction for international and local visitors alike.” – The Inside Guide

Check out the video below and if you want to see the museum in person, just know that SA citizens get free entry on Wednesday mornings.
