CARYN SCRIMGEOUR, Flinch, 2016
OIL ON CANVAS, 150 x 150 cm
Do you really need an excuse to drop everything and flee to Paris in search of culture?
If that’s too spontaneous for ya, then perhaps Fulham on a Friday?
Although, in truth, the Eurostar to Paris may be quicker than the District Line to Fulham.
CARYN SCRIMGEOUR, Flinch, 2016
OIL ON CANVAS, 150 x 150 cm
Nigel Mullins’ poignant and playful work speaks of disintegrating idealism, as Mullins serves up heroes and victims, historic moments and iconic objects as contemporary vanitas paintings.
Caryn Scrimgeour’s table settings interpose fragile and precious curios with commonplace objects. Rich in symbolism her work is reminiscent of still life paintings from the Dutch Golden Age, but create a contemporary context for a traditional genre.
