Appetite Fest is back once more and promises to be better than ever! Appetite Fest invites all foodies, home cooks, aspiring chefs, pastry artists and culinary gurus for their 2019 festival taking place at Time Square’s Sun Arena in Pretoria from 13 to 15 September 2019.

One of the main highlights for Appetite Fest 2019 includes appearances by all three MasterChef Australia judges – Matt Preston, Gary Mehigan and George Calombaris as well as guest chef Shannon Bennet and 2018 Winner Sashi Cheliah.

George and Shannon recently popped in to chat with Bongani Bingwa on Radio 702 ahead of their appearances at Appetite Fest this week, and said that they love coming to South Africa. George also said that he is re-interpreting Chakalaka for a dinner being hosted on Thursday.

“Doing research on that was really awesome…What makes great food is the people, and there is a warmth and generosity of spirit in South Africa.”

What to expect:

Appetite Fest will see Time Square’s Sun Arena and outdoor areas transformed into a playground of interactive food stalls, tasting tables, themed hospitality areas and culinary theatres. Experience three jam-packed days of cooking workshops, tasting stalls, trend talks, masterclasses and more. Guests of Appetite Fest can also watch international and local celebrity chefs show-off their culinary skills in two food theatres and meet their favorite food stars at book signings, private cooking classes or at an exclusive masterclass.

Other than appearances by the judges of MasterChef Australia, South Africa’s most well-known chefs are also included in this year’s line-up; including Sarah Graham, Adrian Vaughan, Siba Mtongana, Bertus Basson, Claire Allen, Lorna Maseko, and Ben Ungermann.

There will also be chefs theatres, tasting of dishes made by popular chefs’, artisanal food trucks, live entertainment and meet and greets.

This year will also see Appetite Fest’s first annual Appetite Fest Culinary World Cup where 16 chefs will compete in a battle royal format over three days. Find out more about this exciting new addition to the fest over here
