A video clip circulating on Twitter of heavily armed men guarding a convoy of sleek supercars at what appears to be an All White Party, has sparked a discussion about the vulgar and wasteful display of wealth which has become prevalent in South Africa.

On par with Konka madness…

Konka Soweto nightclub, which has earned its reputation of being Mzansi’s “millionaire’s playground”, is a case in point.

Scenes of patrons spending ridiculous amounts on bottles of champagne [one could have bought a car with that R360 000…) and pouring expensive liquor over a wad of bank notes, have become the norm.

And let’s not forget about that time when Royal AM football club owner and businesswoman Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize pulled up at the club with her jaw-dropping “Konka cavalcade” of Porsches and Rolls Royces.

All White Party with guns and supercars?

The resurfaced video clip which has left tweeps unimpressed, features body guards in suits and rifles guarding a convoy of flashy supercars, including Ferraris, a Porsche and a Bentley.

It appears to be at an All White Party — or afterparty — as the owners of the supercars are dressed in pristine white outfits. They don’t conduct themselves in a very pristine manner though as they drink from a serious collection of bottles of alcohol plonked on a table while a DJ spins the decks.

Side note: It was none other than our MaMkhize who hosted the first annual All White Party in South Africa alongside Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo at Max’s Lifestyle Village in Umlazi, in January this year.

@reubensekgobela: “Such a trashy life! No freedom!”

@Obakeng87: Another example of how we like to flaunt our wealth to the poor. If you feel the need for so much security, why are you there? Cause you don’t see this at gateway…
