Festive plans will have to be shuffled around to make time for Afropunk 2019 after all. The global lifestyle and entertainment festival announced that it has added Burna Boy and Sjava to its lineup.

Afropunk 2019: What type of festival is it?

If punk was to be reimagined, one would only need to visit Afropunk’s Instagram page. South Africa’s modern alternative, the off-centre lover of every art form that screams ‘afro’ is going to be at the festival this year.

Fans lost it, swearing to reschedule festive season plans, to make it to Constitutional Hill, this coming New Year’s Eve. The ‘African Giant’, fresh off the release of a smashing album, is on everyone’s guest list at the moment.

Known best for his electric performances and the type of sound that’ll move crowds, Burna Boy is sure to bring a needed lift to the festival.

Sjava gets deserved call to headline

Afropunk 2019 also reached out to Sjava, one of South Africa’s most successful artists, to headline next to the likes of Solange, Masego and Miguel.

Sjava’s international acclaim came at a time when he was just starting to enjoy the fruits of being a local superstar.

Two albums into his music career and the Ambitiouz Entertainment signee has made unmatched strides in extending his brand far beyond our borders.

When is Afropunk 2019?

Afropunk 2019 will take place at its staple venue, Constitutional Hill, in Johannesburg on 30 and 31 December, and according to the festival, Solange just needed a few more African companions by her side to take the event to the next level.
