#PowerToThePeople dubbed march painted the streets of Johannesburg blue as members of the Democratic Alliance (DA) marched against loadshedding.
The historic protest march against what the DA described as the ANC-engineered load shedding and electricity crisis was led by party leader Leader John Steenhuisen who was supported by thousands of South Africans who are sick and tired of rolling blackouts and unaffordable, unfair electricity price increases.
“The electricity crisis is no longer about inconvenience at home or in the workplace. It is about the future of South Africa. Our country will not survive the collapse of the electricity grid! It’s time to cut the ANC’s power and give it to the people.”

“While our country is going through an incredibly tough time, it is inspiring to see that citizens have the spirit to fight the ANC-engineered #loadshedding crisis.
Today the DA and many South Africans united and marched for cheaper and more reliable electricity,” the party reflected.
“The primary venue for this march was Luthuli House, the ANC’s headquarters, where all the evil decisions were taken – crippling both Eskom and our economy. By choosing Luthuli House, the DA is taking this fight to the scene of the crime,” the party made it clear.
Through the ANC’s policy of cadre deployment:
“To stop the unjust, unfair, and unaffordable electricity price increases, the DA is taking court action. We have filed our court papers to the High Court of South Africa for an interdict to stop the implementation of an 18.65% tariff increase.
Today at the #PowerToThePeople March we sent a very strong message to the ANC and President Ramaphosa. The ANC needs to understand in no uncertain terms how angry citizens are that they are destroying South Africa’s energy infrastructure and economy.”
“People cannot pay more while they remain in the dark due to #loadshedding,” the party further criticised.
