Operation Dudula report foreign lady selling medication illegally

A 55-year-old female was arrested by JMPD after Operation Dudula reported the illegal sale of medication taking place in Mayfair.

Operation Dudula continues to fight anything done illegally in the country.

OPERATION DUDULA TAKES ACTION AGAINST SALE OF MEDICATION

This after its members reported a lady selling medication illegally in Mayfair, Johannesburg.

Spokesperson Xolani Fihla confirmed that a 55-year-old female was arrested by the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) IIOC Undercover Reaction Unit in contravention of the medical act in Mayfair, Johannesburg.

“On Monday, 13 February 2023, officers followed up on a complaint which was attended to by JMPD Acting Chief of Police Angie Mokasi in January 2023, received from members of operation dudula regarding an individual at Mayfair Clinic selling medication illegally to a lady who then sells it to the community,” he said.

ILLEGAL SELLING OF TREATMENT EXPOSED AT MAYFAIR CLINIC

On the day of the complaint members of dudula attempted to storm Mayfair Clinic and expose the culprits. However, Fihla said the Acting Chief Mokasi and the Undercover Commander intervened and managed to quell the enraged members from storming the clinic and vowed to arrest the culprits.

FOREIGN LADY INVOLVED IN THE MIX OF TRADE

“Information was gathered which led to the officers locating the lady in Mayfair. The lady was searched and a black plastic bag full of various kinds of medication was found in her possession.
The lady, a Malawian national was immediately arrested and detained at Johannesburg Central SAPS. She is due to appear in court soon,” he explained.

Meanwhile, five suspects, including a Zimbabwean national, his wife, girlfriend, and two others, were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a Midrand businessman in Gauteng last month.

The businessman was reportedly kidnapped on 18 January 2023.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), following the Midrand businessman’s kidnapping, the five suspects demanded ransom payment from the family and business associates of the victim.
The suspects were arrested by a multidisciplinary team led by the National Anti-Kidnapping Task Team at residential properties between Pretoria and Johannesburg.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said a Toyota Corolla and Toyota Quantum, used in the crime’s commission, were seized along with multiple phones and SIM cards.
