GA-RANKUWA EDUCATORS ALLEGEDLY SHOT

The 27-year-old and 26-year-old female educators were allegedly shot dead by one of the educator’s partner at approximately 15:00 on Monday.

Circumstances surrounding this incident are reportedly being investigated by the police.

Gauteng Education spokesperson, Steve Mabona said the Gauteng Department of Education has extended Psycho-Social support to both the affected families and the school community.

“We are devastated at this gruesome act of criminality that has taken the lives of two of our youngest and brightest educators. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and all affected members of the Lekgalong Primary School community,” Lesufi said.

This incident comes a month after a nurse from Tembisa Hospital was allegedly gunned down by her partner who is a police officer.

Nursing organisation, DENOSA, said the incident highlighted the need to reconsider allowing officers of the law to enter facilities with guns, and the need to have gun storage in healthcare facilities by security unless they are escorting a dangerous patient or a convict.
