Steak and Creamy Mushroom Sauce Recipe

Do you know what South Africa’s favourite steak is? Many would say that it’s the tender loin or fillet, but for local households. it’s often the rump steak, of course. For many, this cut is often not only a bit cheaper, but holds up to many other kinds of cooking like the braai and actually has a more dense flavour. This garlic and lemon rump steak with creamy mushroom sauce is the perfect restaurant-quality dinner that every household can enjoy without spending too much time cooking.

Garlic and lemon rump steak suggestions

You don’t have to go too far to find great cuts of rump steak in South Africa thanks to our overall high-quality beef. The cooking time will depend on the thickness of the steaks and you want to cook it a bit less than your preferred doneness as you will let the steak rest for half the time it cooked. Resting the steak also gives you the best chance to finish off the mushroom (and onion if you prefer) sauce without rushing to put everything on the table.
